What to look for when buying a harness for your dog

One of the main questions we get asked is " what kind of harness would you recommend for my dog?"

Well, with so many different variations on the market, this can be tricky if you're a first time dog owner.

For puppies and smaller dogs, collars can pull too forcefully on their delicate little necks during their walks, in this case we would suggest a soft mesh style harness, that would distribute the weight of the dog evenly around the chest and shoulders therefore reducing injury. These can be a 'Step in Vest Style' or one which goes over the neck and fastens behind the front legs.

On the other hand if you have large rambunctious dog, you would probably be better off using a "no-pull" harness which will tighten slightly when the dog pulls.

Different styles of harness have different fits. Be sure to measure around your dogs ribcage, just behind the front legs before you purchase one and be sure to double check the size.

We have many styles in stock and are happy to help with any questions or queries you may have!
